Fan Fest Portland: Day 1

I’ll have to admit, writing this post is both daunting and incredibly exciting, because I get to relive the most epic weekend ever (I’m still not over it).

In case you missed my last several posts, I flew to Portland, OR, last weekend to attend the Walker Stalker Con / Heroes & Villains combined event Fan Fest Portland for my birthday (which was the Saturday). I’m a huge fan of conventions – a place where you can unite with likeminded individuals all there to celebrate the same fandoms.

Rather than typing up a typical recap, this entire post (and the one following it for Day 2) is going to be an online diary entry of the day combined with NEW tips and tricks I learned, as well as a review not only of FFPortland as a whole, but also the Platinum Pass product that they offer. I know many people – myself included – were curious about the pass itself (and whether it’s worth what you pay) so I hope this gives everyone some food for thought. Some of my tips will be repeated from the convention guide posts I made, but seeing situations in real time just proved my points further so I have to reiterate them.

My general convention tips will be reiterated in blue, while any comments or feedback I have about the Platinum experience will be noted in red.

Are you ready to join me while I relive the epicness? Sweet. Here we go.

Friday Five: 2017’s Best Fandoms

Welcome to my very first Friday Five!

Every Friday, I’ll be posting on a specific topic that were/are my top five [insert category here] – this’ll cover anything and everything from fandom to travel to restaurants!

First up, I wanted to look back at 2017 and five fandoms that made a lasting impact on me. Whether my brain broke because of excellent storytelling, I obsessed over certain characters, or the film or show ended up bringing me closer to fellow fans and friends, each of these five made an impact on me in 2017. Now take note, choosing these five doesn’t mean I think they’re perfect or infallible (and, in fact, as you’ll see in my discussion below, I’ll mention quite the opposite) but they have, nonetheless, left an impression.

Be warned, there will be spoilers below for the latest seasons of these shows/the plot points of these films!

27 things on my 27th

Well hello there.

Today, I am 27 years old. Officially at that age where I can say I’m close to 30, officially at that age where I can look back on the last decade of my life and measure up what I’ve done, what I’ve yet to do, and what I’ve accomplished. It’s a dizzying, heady feeling and it’s easy to have it overwhelm me if I’m not careful!

SO.

Instead of focusing on that, I thought this site’s revival was long overdue, and an appropriate way to celebrate is to look back on 27 reasons why the heck I was so busy in 2015 in the first place. (Spoiler alert: travel involved).
