Write Yourself Alive: Day Two – Lost, Yet Found

Today’s PromptImagine your current life as an autobiographical novel. Narrate a day in your life as the main character in your book. What story would you tell? Focus on details and describe yourself: include your strengths and weaknesses and everything that makes you YOU.

day2
Westminster Abbey, August 2014.

She’s a bit lost, this girl. She wakes up, goes to work, comes home, sleeps. Lather, rinse, repeat.

The cycle is nonstop.

She knows exactly where she is at every moment. She has the routine down pat. Her phone’s alarms go off at 6:15, 6:20, and 6:28 every weekday morning. She’s out the door at 7:00. She’s home at… well… she wishes that were consistent. She knows her job, she does it well. She laughs at jokes, she cracks some of her own. She eats delicious food, spends time with great people… but she’s lost.

She cries sometimes, at night. She swears in anger. She feels so, so, so close to giving up. And she’s still lost.

It takes a few good friends, a few words of wisdom, and some shaky wake up calls to turn her around. She’s nervous (rightfully so)… but she sees a light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.

A giant leap of faith has to be taken. She takes it. She’s either brave, a bit stupid, or a maybe both… but she’s smiling wider than she has been in a very long time.

She’s still unsure where she’s going, but she’s finally found herself.

That – for now – is enough.
